Definition - What does Flextime Policies mean?

Flextime policies refer to employers granting adaptable schedules to employees based on certain permissible conditions. There are variable circumstances that are deemed as acceptable grounds for receiving a flexible schedule to accommodate employee needs and interests. Employers have the responsibility of determining whether or not flextime schedules coincide with current policy and procedure prior to official acceptance.

Flextime policies refer to conditional terms of adaptable scheduling that employers will periodically use for the personal benefit of its employees. While policy and procedure varies among companies, employees can be exempted from traditional workplace scheduling for a variety of reasons such as parental obligations, medical limitations prescribed by a doctor, disabilities (whether congenital or diagnostic), and temporary family issues can be equal denominators in terms of acknowledging flextime policies. However, these cut-and-dried exemptions, though important, are exclusionary circumstances to employees who may not share the same flextime privileges. Consequently, many employees are not parents, but they may have tantamount responsibilities outside of work that deserve identical flextime policy accommodations.
